The Driving
Test
|
|
 |
A lot of pupils ask me "How many Lessons
will I need ?" A DSA survey suggests that to give potential candidates the best
possible chance of passing, they will need to have completed at least 40 hours driving
with a professional instructor plus as much "additional" driving with a member
of their family. |
|
| On the
4th May 1999 the driving test changed. Some of the important changes are listed
here. |
- The driving test will now last up to 40
minutes.
- The test routes are designed to include more
high speed single and dual carriageways.
- The emergency stop will be carried out at
random.
- You will be asked to complete two of the
three manoeuvres, these are the reverse corner, reverse park and turn in the road.
The reverse park manoeuvre may be carried out on the road or in the car park of the test
centre.
You will fail if you make one
serious or dangerous mistake, or if you commit more than 15 driving errors.

SHOW ME..... TELL ME
Before the actual driving test begins,
the examiner will take you out to the car and ask you to perform TWO
simple basic routine maintenance checks on your car. This is known as
SHOW ME...TELL ME. An example of this could be to show/tell him how you
would check the oil levels on your car, or perhaps explain how to check
the tyre pressures...All this will be explained during the course of
your lessons.

your theory test and driving test again - THINK ABOUT IT! |
